God opened the door for me to be a part of bringing Life Learning School to Ann Arbor. I am amazed and thankful every day! This is a special place that is unique in the world of education. Though full of obstacles and challenges, life has taught me our faith does not grow unless we push beyond our comfort zones and rely more on HIM.
My experience in sales and marketing, then in business and finance, provided me a great view of life and developed my collaborative and leadership skills as I transitioned into the world of education eight years ago. As a coach, an athletic director, and physical education teacher, I discovered a true joy and passion of mine in teaching and encouraging students to find their best from within. Now as Director of Operations at Life Learning School, I bring my diverse experience of leadership, organization, and communication to LIFE every day. Being on a team of dynamic people who love Jesus is incredible and powerful. Equally satisfying, however, is encouraging and guiding students to grow through the many challenges presented to them. A.W. Tozer said, “God never uses anyone greatly until He tests them deeply.” I love that and take that with me every day.
Living in HIS grace each day allows me to rise and be my best as a husband and father. My wife, Christy, is a blessing and has been my rock of support for over 14 years of marriage. Together we’ve been blessed with six children (five girls and one boy), and they all continue to provide laughter and inspiration on our journey together (as well as wear us out). As a family, we enjoy time outdoors (especially in the summer), athletics, and being active. We also love our down time with a family movie night once in a while. Doing life with this crew is awesome!

My husband Mark and I live in Ann Arbor and have two children Gillian age 12 and Thomas age 15, plus a Boston Terrier named Lucy and Pumpkin our elderly black cat. My husband is an analyst at Ford and I’m honored to be teaching science at LIFE and working with the wonderful students and dedicated staff here.
I was led to LIFE after a friend pointed out a school open house last year. I have a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Ohio University and a BS with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. I trained and then worked at the University of Michigan medical school until my second child came along. We attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in downtown Ann Arbor and my son serves as an acolyte. We also enjoy sharing our time with The Breakfast Program at St Andrew’s for the homeless and others in need.
I have been married to my husband, Ross, since 2004, and we have one son, Cameron, and two fuzzy kids, Bailey and Piper. Ross and I both share a passion for education and the challenges and rewards it brings. Through our own educational experiences, mine in early/elementary and Ross’s in higher education, I have learned that education is a life-long journey with many paths we can take. Life Learning School provides students with the foundation to make confident choices about which path will work best on their individual journeys, and I am honored to be a part of that.
I have had a passion for education most of my life. I hold a bachelor’s in elementary education, with a major in language arts and a minor in science, and a master’s in early childhood education, both from Eastern Michigan University. I spent four years teaching preschool, Kindergarten, and first grade in a Christian school before I took a break to stay at home with my son. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at home watching him grow and learn. Now that he is beginning his school career, I am excited to return to the classroom.
Throughout my life, God has blessed me in countless ways, challenged me in others, and provided me with many opportunities and strong, loving relationships. When I became a teacher, I never intended to go into Christian education. It was through a series of small opportunities, which I now know was God leading me, that I wound up at a Christian school, and now I cannot imagine teaching in any other environment. Being a part of a child’s education is a wonderful, fulfilling thing; but being a part of their relationship with God in addition to their education is even more amazing, and I’m looking forward to doing both at LIFE.

I am married to Moon-Chul Kim and we have a daughter, Jung-Min Kim and a son, Jung-Ho Kim. We live in Ann Arbor and attend Christ the King Catholic Church. I love sewing, singing, and swimming.
I have been married to the perfect man for me for more than twenty-four years, my husband Bret. Together we have two amazing sons who have brought us much joy, laughter and, yes, just a little bit of craziness; Hunter is a senior and Spencer is a freshman. Our family is blessed with the sweetest of all black labs, Miss Maisy May. We live in Saline and attend Saline Community Church. I was raised in Colorado surrounded by a wonderfully loving extended family. My mom and dad are still two of the most influential people in my life.
As one of the people attempting to secure funding for Life Learning School, it has been a wonderful experience to see the school develop students who love their journey at this school.
LIFE reaches out to each individual in a special way and guides and nurtures their growth and education. It does not surprise me this school has won awards for excellence in education. The staff meets the needs of each student in a unique way no other school in this area does, resulting in an atmosphere that is fun for learning and critical for their future. There are plenty of schools doing many good things. LIFE combines them all together and hits a home run out of the park. I am so honored to be a part of this great school.
I have raised money for other private schools, but volunteering my time to this one and the future of these students is inspirig as LIFE takes education to a new level. It’s an honor to promote this school and the committed leaders that understand education and all the aspects involved.
Our three grown children all attended local private schools, but had LIFE existed then, we would have certainly had a terrific option for our kids. My wife and I have been married for 37 years and are totally behind the goals and objectives of LIFE. It’s not just a terrific school, it’s a group of caring individuals who bring out the best in every student. You won’t be disappointed with your child at LIFE.
Founder & Chief Inspiration Officer
As the Chief Inspiration Officer of Life Learning School, I am honored to be responsible for the overall spirit and development of this promising new “dream fulfilling” campus. Christian education is a personal passion of mine, and after 23 years of Christian educational experience, God put it on my heart to begin the research on a new and unique type of school. The ultimate result is Life Learning School. It is the first of its kind: a Christian blended-learning community for students in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. It combines the personal interaction involved with the traditional teacher-to-student approach with the best of online learning, all while complimenting both of these with a wide variety of experiential learning opportunities.
My wife Melynn and I have been married for over 30 years and we have been blessed with five wonderful children (Deanna, Melissa, Tommy, Allison, and Kristen). Prior to being called into the world of Christian education, I had the privilege of serving locally as a paramedic/firefighter. As an officer within the department, I spent much of my time developing and leading training drills and providing community education. As I begin this next chapter of my life, it is very clear only the Lord could have orchestrated the circumstances that created this opportunity. My objective at LIFE is to use my interpersonal skills and extensive life experiences in a Christian school environment to lead and motivate students, teachers, parents, and staff to further the cause of Jesus Christ through the school.
